Medals, munchies, and miscellaneous matters...

  • arrive: 8.30 - 9.20
  • leave: 2.00 - 2.15

  • Arrive...
any time between 8.30 and 9.20. The earlier the better... it takes a while for hundreds of kids to take off their coats, locate their playing hall, get their name-tags, and find their section.

If you are late, try to sneak in quietly.

  • Welcome speech and instructions
9.40 at the latest, earlier if we can get to it. We all want to start playing chess.

  • Games start...
9.50 at the latest. We want the players to play chess sedately, and so 2nd game and 3rd game start times are announced from the mic, probably about 10:05 and 10:20. No one is to begin those games before the announced time, but it is fine to play more slowly and begin them after the announced time. Don't worry if you like to play slowly, everyone will get to play all their games.

  • Lunch
After 4 or 5 games The scorekeepers will tell the players when to go for lunch.

  • Last game...
...will be called at 1.25. After the games being played then are finished...

  • Time for medals...
...not later than 1.45, earlier if we can. The scorekeepers figure out who has won what, and while they are doing that the kids set up the chess sets.

  • Home time...
The kids should be ready to leave...2.00, or 2.15 at the latest

Medals to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd (and ties for 3rd). (See also full medal rules)
